BARRON’S: Fanatics and Sotheby’s Team up to Sell High-End Trading Cards

Fanatics is upping its game through a partnership with Sotheby’s to sell trading cards with values of US $100,000 or more, leveraging the international reach of the auction house to broaden its business.

The Jacksonville, Fla. - based maker and online retailer of licensed sportswear for several major sports leagues, also announced a new marketplace it’s calling Fanatics Collect that will offer fixed-price listings in addition to weekly and monthly auctions of trading cards at less lofty prices among other services that had been offered by its recently purchased auction arm, PWCC.
